about us

our Vision >

Protecting the town of Wilson through an engaged community advocacy network.

We envision a community which is vibrant and welcoming, retaining its small-town character, where both people and wildlife can move about safely and comfortably.

We will work to protect our fragile ecosystem and influence transportation infrastructure to strike a balance between the needs of the Wilson community that straddles WY State Highway 22 corridor.

our strategy >

We would like to create an active Wilson community, through emails and meetings, so everyone can remain updated and active in advocating for Wilson.

Our ultimate aim is to be an influential voice for Wilson at the Teton County and Wyoming state levels.

our history

Wilson Advocacy formed in 2017 after residents, concerned about safety in the commercial area, hosted an open house at the Old Wilson Schoolhouse Community Center to gather community input and organize a response.

Identified safety issues in Wilson included increased traffic and unsafe motor vehicle speeds, lack of pedestrian highway crossings, unstructured parking areas in the core commercial area, lack of safe cycling access, and a need for bus stop infrastructure. Over the next two years, our group successfully advocated for Teton County to fund a transportation plan to solve safety issues in Wilson.

With funding from Teton County and WYDOT in 2020, a multi-modal transportation plan was completed and adopted by Teton County in 2022. Wilson Advocacy concurrently spear-headed a successful application for a $25 million federal BUILD grant to fund the projects the Wilson Multi-modal Corridor Plan and build the new Wilson to Snake River Pathway.

The proposal was awarded BUILD funding in 2020, which includes funds for the Stilson Transit Center and the next phase of the Teton Pass pathway near Coal Creek on WY-22.
